Kerak Castle was a Crusader stronghold and was featured prominently in the movie, Kingdom of Heaven, though the filming was not actually done on location.
The weather was unusually cooler the week I was visiting Jordan and a strong wind blew constantly. The day we visited Kerak, a sandstorm was blowing and we chanced upon a beam of sunlight coming in from a window with sand granules circulating within the beam. Alex became our model while the rest of us snapped away. I love this shot because it looked like he was reaching towards the sunbeam albeit in a cloud of sand and dust.
